Jerome Miller Project

This Colorado-based project was for a stewardship client, in conjunction with the United States Forest Service and numerous Front Range watershed authorities. It was a 419-acre mechanical treatment project targeting hazardous fuels reduction along sensitive municipal supply watersheds. These watersheds had already suffered significant damage during several fires in the past 20 years. This project is proactively protecting these watershed corridors, while simultaneously targeting fuels thinning within high priority firesheds.

VM West used mechanical treatment methods to remove overgrown and dead timber. The timber was removed, with much of it being decked and left for public firewood gathering purposes. The slash was strategically treated to provide necessary ground cover, which essential for moisture retention and to protect the new growth trees and areas re-seeded after treatment.
