MSMEC Wildfire Remediation

About The Project

The MSMEC Hazard Tree Removal project is a major, on-going effort funded by Federal and State level disaster relief agencies, who partnered with the local utility cooperative to remove over 126,000 hazardous trees within utility right-of-way and dangerous proximity to residential structures. VM West, and partners, are solely responsible for the safe cutting, hauling, grinding, and final removal of all hazard trees. Operational approach includes the utilization of mechanized cut-to-length and whole-tree cutting practices, as well as highly technical climbing and hand falling practices when in dangerous proximity to utility lines and residential structures. Secondary services provided by VM West include significant dirt work and road building to remediate the severe post-fire erosion and create numerous staging yards for chip, haul, and scaling activities.
