About The Project
The targeted outcomes achieved on this project include proactively managing forest conditions to reduce severe fire risk, significantly decreasing post-fire sediment flow potential, and utilizing harvested timber materials that were otherwise in degrading state, contributing to forest health decline and increased fire danger.
VM West teams utilized whole-tree logging equipment to fall and process identified timber, ensuring to maintain the full integrity of the remaining healthy stand of trees. Additional resources utilized on the steep operating slopes include mastication equipment and forwarders to remove the timber products without skid trails, ensuring a low impact operation and footprint.
