Buro-Molas
Operating across multiple spans, VMW utilized expert falling crews to manage timber removal on challenging terrain.
About The Project
VM West successfully executed the Burro Bridge – Silverton – Molas Tap Project, collaborating closely with Mountain Blade Runners (MBR) for the aerial operations. Understanding the complexities of this project, VMW initiated mechanical and hand falling operations two weeks in advance, optimizing safety and productivity before aerial work commenced.
Operating across multiple spans, VMW utilized expert falling crews to manage timber removal on challenging terrain. With a fleet of advanced equipment—including Ponsse harvesters and the K-Max helicopter for aerial transport—we ensured efficient timber handling while preserving vital infrastructure.
The Details
Throughout the project, VMW developed an operational plan in close coordination with the Project Administrator and local agencies. This included a thorough Helicopter Operations Plan and proactive communication with stakeholders to minimize community impacts.
The project involved hand falling and helicopter removal across various spans, implementing a mix of mechanical resources and technical falling teams for dense stands of timber. Our commitment to safety and operational excellence allowed VMW to navigate steep slopes and complex environmental considerations effectively.
