About The Project
VM West successfully completed the Monarch Mountain Project, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing safety and operational efficiency at the resort. This project involved the removal of dead, dying, and hazardous trees across 70 acres, coupled with fuels reduction and the clearing of new ski runs.
Utilizing advanced equipment, including the Ponsse harvester and forwarder team, VMW effectively managed operations on steep slopes to ensure safe and efficient material removal. The project began with the Tethered Ponsse Bear Harvester systematically cutting and processing trees, followed promptly by the Ponsse Elephant King Forwarder, which transported logs to the Pano decking site.
Project Details
With a keen focus on maintaining a clean and safe footprint for ski operations, VMW employed mastication techniques to manage slash and stumps post-harvest. The use of TimberPro steep slope mulchers ensured that all residual material was adequately processed, supporting the resort’s commitment to quality skiing conditions.
